The St. Petersburg String Quartet originally began as the Leningrad
String Quartet in 1985 and is ranked among the best chamber groups on
the current scene. Last season the quartet celebrated its 20th
anniversary with performances in Great Britain, Mexico, Germany and
throughout the United States. Winner of numerous international
competitions from Tokyo to Australia, the ensemble has received a
Grammy nomination for "Best Record," and honors from Gramophone
Magazine and the Chamber Music of America.
