I *wish*~! But alas, I am too *IMPORTANT*~!
You know I am not far, and love Cowtown, and LOVE my Amy.
I would give my middle ball to see Her tonight~!
But I am home watching _The Wizard of OZ_, and waiting for my AMY to
come over after the show, at bedtime, ..... so we can talk and get
something straight between us~!
And I switched back over from Jackie Chan just in time to see Gloria
pitch a bucket of water on the Wicked Witch~!
And I notice that /G\l/o\r/i\a/'s Dorothy's ankles are so much like my
Amy's ankles~!
Normally I don't do this, but I would rub my massive boner on Her
ankles~! Prob'ly on the soles of Her feet, too~! Before going all
around and all over the place~!
Just so you know~! : ) Lala |

So Sam, how was the concert?
|
It was awesome!! I had ordered the tickets online through Ticketmaster and
had to pick them up at the will-call window. The concert started at 8 and
will-calls were available at 6:30, so I was there at 6:30.
I went to the ticket window and got the tickets, then walked back out to the
car. About 6:45 a long, stretch limo arrived and it drove right up to the
front door. Amy got out of it wearing blue jeans, a blue shirt and a black
sweater. There were a handful of people there, it appeared she signed an
autograph or two, then she went into the building.
The doors didn't open to the general public until 7pm. There was supposed
to have been a sound check at 3:30, but unfortunately, I couldn't get off
work early to go. Anyway, we go in at about 7:15 and there is a long line
formed to buy t-shirts and stuff in the middle of the entry area and no line
at the liquor cart on the left side. I just knew I would see AE over there
hitting them up for free booze, but I was spared his enormous body odor as I
walked by the vodka cart.
Our seats were in the balcony in "right box 1, seats 3 and 4." We sat
exactly in the middle of the theater in front of the guard rail that
prevents people from falling off the balcony. It was actually kind of
funny, because at one point during the concert, Amy had everyone get up to
dip and sway to "Everywhere I Go," and I nearly tumbled over the balcony!
Thank God for the guard rail!!
So before the concert started, they passed out flyers with a recipe of Amy's
from Country Crock as well as a coupon for free butter. There was also a
postcard size thing advertising Chris Eaton's new album.
At 8:05, the lights went down, the "keep us quiet" before show music went
off and Amy came out.
She came out alone, with no great fanfare, picked up her guitar, spotlight
went on and she sang "Father's Eyes." Her voice was clear and powerful and
the song ended with thunderous applause.
Next, the band came out. They all got in their places and Amy said "this is
a song about growing up in the 60s" and they launched into "Wait For the
Healing". I've always loved this song, I had wished it would have been
re-released sometime as it never got the airplay nor the attention it
deserves. They delivered the song powerfully, they ROCKED it out!! It was
an extended version, with harmonica solo, guitar solo, frills and just man!
It was so good.
Next they did "Love of Another Kind" - that got everyone on their feet, they
carried the energy from WFTH into it and, well I felt sorry for all of the
grey hairs in the audience, because we were surely at a rock concert! Next
came "All Right" which continued the rock theme. All I can say is, the old
band and Amy are GREAT together. So much more synergy than her current
recording band (the people from "Time Again"). After "All Right", Amy said
she had met a family backstage before the show and only 1 member of the
family spoke English. The father however was a big Amy fan and wanted to
play his guitar and sing as a family with Amy on a song. She brought them
out, the daughter translated. Amy let the dad play her guitar and they all
jumped into an amazing version of "Emmanuel" After the family left the stage
and we all sat down, they did a great version of "What About the Love". All
I kept saying was "they need to record it like THAT!!" -- to almost every
song, they were simply wonderful arrangements. Next Amy told a story about
the early 70s and finding a church in downtown Nashville. She sang "1974"
which almost felt out of place after the all the rock songs. She continued
to slow it down with "El Shaddai" -- again just Amy and her guitar and it
was just beautiful. She has never sounded as good on that song. All night
her voice was pure, strong and she made ALL of these old songs sound so
fresh!
The oldest song of the night was next when she dusted off "All I Ever Have
to Be". The way she sang that song Friday night, it could be a major
release today. She brought that old, nearly 30 year old song back to life!
Nothing sounded dated or old, not a one of them. They were masterful in the
way they arranged all of them.
So, as I previously mentioned before, I nearly plummeted to my death during
the next one. Amy said "a trip to the 80s wouldn't be complete without
audience participation, so everyone get up!" -- she then showed us all what
she wanted to do, which was dip and sway to the right then dip and sway to
the left... she showed us all several times how it was supposed to be done.
From the balcony it was really neat to see everyone below dipping and
swaying. Everyone looked like tall grass in a field swaying in the wind, it
was just really neat! That's the best word for it, it was neat. So towards
the end of the song, as I was dipping and swaying, I guess my foot hit the
wall in front of me and I damn near fell over the balcony railing. Thank
goodness it was there, it gave me quite a scare as it must have the people
behind me. All I remember is thinking "I'm going to die! but it was at Amy,
so it's ok!' and then I grabbed the rail and I think someone behind me
grabbed my jacket and pulled me back, or I had angels watching over me.
Which was next by the way. Once we were all back safely in our seats, they
launched into a fantastic introduction, I didn't recognize it though. But,
it sounded great and thought "maybe this is something I missed" then
discovered it was a just a new arrangement and introduction to "Angels".
Again, they need to release that version of "Angels" right now, it blew my
socks off! The intro was a good minute and a half long, it rocked!! They
crescended up to what reminded me of those old, great 80s arena rock, power
songs. Amy shouted out "TAKE THIS MAN TO PRISON" - then in softer a voice
"the man heard here would say". She had put her guitar down for this one
and was just singing and I loved it. I wish sometimes she would put that
thing down and just SING. So she did, she sang this song with passion and
strong, powerful lyrics. That band rocks, I mean they could take on any
1980s big hair, arena rock band and give them a run for their money. They
were so tight and so good! Our Amy didn't miss a beat though, all night she
was right there with them. She must have had some score to settle or
something, I haven't seen Amy so fired up and sound so good in a long, long
time. I was at the LMO show when she came to Dallas in 1988 and the music,
the singing, everything was so much better Friday night. I actually sat in
shock at how good they all were and said "man, this should be at the Cotton
Bowl or something, it was just awesome everyone, I was truly blown away.
The only down-turn of the night came next with "Sing Your Praise to the
Lord". They worked it up with the usual keyboard flare and well, it just
didn't really fit into the rock theme of the night, not the way they
arranged it. It was good, don't get me wrong, it just felt out of place.
How odd is that? Next was "Find a Way" which got everyone back on their
feet, clapping and dancing along. Everyone sat down and Amy introduced the
band. Everyone from the old days was there except Michael and Gary. Amy
had Chris Eaton sing one of his new songs, it was very nice, really peaceful
and hypnotic. I could not tell you what it was but, I enjoyed it.
Next Amy sang "Shadows" again back to the new and cool rock-you-out
arrangement, followed by a rock version of "Saved By Love". The house went
dark again, a single spotlight on Amy speaking "Long time since I've seen
you smile, and then I close my eyes, I remember" the band came in and they
spin into a great version of "Stay for Awhile" and I remember thinking how
odd it was for this song to be done at that time because it seemed like the
concert had already gone 2 hours! But, we were still in store for a lot of
good music. So, the stage went dark, a single guitar started up with the
intro to "Lead Me On" and the house exploded, this was what everyone had
been waiting for. There were some really cool light effects, as each note
on the guitar played the lights flashed in step. One by one the rest of the
band picked up on their cues and Amy stepped up to the microphone. I think
she must have eaten a whole bag of potato chips or something, because every
song her voice was just great. She did a live version of LMO that blew the
original album version out of the water. It was magical and there was a not
a person sitting when the song was over. Thunderous applause, it was
awesome!
After we all settled down, back into our seats, Amy said "how about some
unrecorded stuff?" we cheered and she sang 3 new ones. "What Would They
Find" was first followed by 2 I have never heard. I enjoyed them so much I
didn't make any notes as to the lyrics. I was expecting to hear "What
Angels See" but she did 2 other new ones instead. One in particular got my
interest, if Amy sang it the way it is going to be recorded, she has a huge
hit in store for us. I think, it would be called "Save Me", might be
"Change Me". I just remember the chorus being exceptionally powerful.
Amy thanked us all and said good night. I think we all knew it wasn't
really over, of course it wasn't, there's always an encore! Amy and the band
came back out and did "Fight", "Wise Up" and "Sharaya". Amy again said
goodnight and they all left the stage. Again, deafening applause and
cheering and this time Amy back by herself and sang "Say Once More", just
Amy and her guitar. Again, she said goodnight, left the stage, we all
cheered and clapped and they ALL came back out and Amy said, "ok, but this
one is it!" and they did "Turn, Turn, Turn" -- Amy had put her guitar down
and was dancing and twirling on stage. Before the song she said that they
have to head over to Branson, MO, but she would rather stay here in Fort
Worth, in the venue where she performed her first ticketed event 30 years
before. It was an amazing night, a great concert. It was a little over 2
hours, 2:15 by my clock. I read the Startlegram's review which said it was
95 minutes, they weren't including the encores. Amy said several times
throughout the night that revisiting the old songs has made her go into a
writing frenzy and she has written all of the new songs for the new album.
I can't wait! I hope she records with the old band again, they are just so
good.
So, there it is. I'm sorry it was so long-winded and took so long for me to
post. If you have not gone to see this show, do so if you possibly can. It
is worth it! The concert is more deserving of a big stadium or arena than
it is of a small theater style venue. Friday night was Amy at her absolute
best and it was a delight and pleasure to be there.

Wow!!! Your review knocked by socks off! (LOL!) I have been hearing
GLOWING reviews of this LMO Reunion concert tour from everyone who
have seen it!! I am sooooo sorry that I couldn't make it to it. I'm
so hoping that they will at least tape it for a possible DVD release
because it seems to be so deserving of it. Everyone has said that Amy
and her band are having such a great time onstage together and that it
shows. And everyone has said that Amy has never sounded better! I am
so glad that this tour has been not only energizing to Amy but to
those who have had the great opportunity to be a part of it.
Thanks so much Sam for giving us a wonderful detailed account of it
all and I'm glad that Angels were watching over you and that you lived
to tell the story. |

exactly in the middle of the theater in front of the guard rail that
prevents people from falling off the balcony.
But,
it sounded great and thought "maybe this is something I missed" then
discovered it was a just a new arrangement and introduction to "Angels"..
Bowl or something, it was just awesome everyone, I was truly blown away..
The only down-turn of the night came next with "Sing Your Praise to the
Lord". They worked it up with the usual keyboard flare and well, it just
didn't really fit into the rock theme of the night, not the way they
arranged it. It was good, don't get me wrong, it just felt out of place..
Sam

Uh, meant to type "knocked *my* socks off!" But, you got my

So Sam, how was the concert?
It was awesome!! I had ordered the tickets online through Ticketmaster
and
had to pick them up at the will-call window. The concert started at 8 and
will-calls were available at 6:30, so I was there at 6:30.
I went to the ticket window and got the tickets, then walked back out to
the
car. About 6:45 a long, stretch limo arrived and it drove right up to the
front door. Amy got out of it wearing blue jeans, a blue shirt and a
black
sweater. There were a handful of people there, it appeared she signed an
autograph or two, then she went into the building.
The doors didn't open to the general public until 7pm. There was supposed
to have been a sound check at 3:30, but unfortunately, I couldn't get off
work early to go. Anyway, we go in at about 7:15 and there is a long line
formed to buy t-shirts and stuff in the middle of the entry area and no
line
at the liquor cart on the left side. I just knew I would see AE over
there
hitting them up for free booze, but I was spared his enormous body odor as
I

Bowl or something, it was just awesome everyone, I was truly blown away.
The only down-turn of the night came next with "Sing Your Praise to the
Lord". ?They worked it up with the usual keyboard flare and well, it just
didn't really fit into the rock theme of the night, not the way they
arranged it. ?It was good, don't get me wrong, it just felt out of place.
How odd is that? ?Next was "Find a Way" which got everyone back on their
feet, clapping and dancing along. ?Everyone sat down and Amy introduced
the
band. ?Everyone from the old days was there except Michael and Gary. ?Amy
had Chris Eaton sing one of his new songs, it was very nice, really
peaceful
and hypnotic. ?I could not tell you what it was but, I enjoyed it.
Next Amy sang "Shadows" again back to the new and cool rock-you-out
arrangement, followed by a rock version of "Saved By Love". ?The house
went
dark again, a single spotlight on Amy speaking "Long time since I've seen
you smile, and then I close my eyes, I remember" the band came in and they
spin into a great version of "Stay for Awhile" and I remember thinking how
odd it was for this song to be done at that time because it seemed like
the
concert had already gone 2 hours! ?But, we were still in store for a lot
of
good music. ?So, the stage went dark, a single guitar started up with the
intro to "Lead Me On" and the house exploded, this was what everyone had
been waiting for. ?There were some really cool light effects, as each note
on the guitar played the lights flashed in step. ?One by one the rest of
the
band picked up on their cues and Amy stepped up to the microphone. ?I
think
she must have eaten a whole bag of potato chips or something, because
every
song her voice was just great. ?She did a live version of LMO that blew
the
original album version out of the water. ?It was magical and there was a
not
a person sitting when the song was over. ?Thunderous applause, it was
awesome!
After we all settled down, back into our seats, Amy said "how about some
unrecorded stuff?" we cheered and she sang 3 new ones. ?"What Would They
Find" was first followed by 2 I have never heard. ?I enjoyed them so much
I
didn't make any notes as to the lyrics. ?I was expecting to hear "What
Angels See" but she did 2 other new ones instead. ?One in particular got
my
interest, if Amy sang it the way it is going to be recorded, she has a
huge
hit in store for us. ?I think, it would be called "Save Me", might be
"Change Me". ?I just remember the chorus being exceptionally powerful.
Amy thanked us all and said good night. ?I think we all knew it wasn't
really over, of course it wasn't, there's always an encore! Amy and the
band
came back out and did "Fight", "Wise Up" and "Sharaya". ?Amy again said
goodnight and they all left the stage. ?Again, deafening applause and
cheering and this time Amy back by herself and sang "Say Once More", just
Amy and her guitar. ?Again, she said goodnight, left the stage, we all
cheered and clapped and they ALL came back out and Amy said, "ok, but this
one is it!" and they did "Turn, Turn, Turn" -- Amy had put her guitar down
and was dancing and twirling on stage. ?Before the song she said that they
have to head over to Branson, MO, but she would rather stay here in Fort
Worth, in the venue where she performed her first ticketed event 30 years
before. ?It was an amazing night, a great concert. ?It was a little over 2
hours, 2:15 by my clock. ?I read the Startlegram's review which said it
was
95 minutes, they weren't including the encores. ?Amy said several times
throughout the night that revisiting the old songs has made her go into a
writing frenzy and she has written all of the new songs for the new album.
I can't wait! ?I hope she records with the old band again, they are just
so
good.
So, there it is. ?I'm sorry it was so long-winded and took so long for me
to
post. ?If you have not gone to see this show, do so if you possibly can.
?It
is worth it! ?The concert is more deserving of a big stadium or arena than
it is of a small theater style venue. ?Friday night was Amy at her
absolute
best and it was a delight and pleasure to be there.

**********************************
I am so glad you enjoyed it! I try to give good accounts and I am glad I
succeeded! I forgot to mention that Amy and Kim sang a duet about Kim
finding her birth-mother that was not only poignant, but beautiful. Songs I
was surprised they didn't do: I Have Decided, Too Late, Fat Baby... they
would have been great with the rockish theme of the night.
