rip the great MIRIAM MAKEBA!
I don't know her music, but sure have heard her name a lot over
the
years.
Didn't she have a Top 10 hit in the 60's?
"PATA PATA i think was a hit, she also toured with BELAFONTE@"
Yes, that's the song I was thinking of.
"folk down on the new BRUCE number, but i gotta give it thumbs up.
from
the BRIEF snippet you gotta like the bass sound and the background
whitle, along withe SNAPPY tune.
gotta give it BIG THUMBS UP!! reminds me a little bit of that old
number HIGH on a MOUNTAIN OF LOVE!"
Yeah, it sounded okay. I'm sure there will be better stuff on the
album
too.- Hide quoted text -

they best FORGET ABOUT IT!! that material sank without a trace! the
NEW BRUCE music has an EMPHASIS(sp) on the MUSICIAL COLOR PALATTE!!

i rather have the WHISTLIN than the HARP any day."
I'm a little surprised with the generally negative reaction next door..
But
I
think they were the same way initially with the first snippets (and the
title) of the last album. I'm sure it'll be fine.
Whistling is an interesting touch.
And yeah, give me Bruce doing rock over anything else, anytime. The
Seeger
album's the only album of new Bruce material that I never bought.- Hide

Bruce has been into serious marketing, and big big $, for years now; some

i LIKE it how all the geniuses wanna MARKET the BRUCE record, when the
MUSIC BIZ practially dont exist. if you get in the football game thats
as good as it gets, AINT BRUCERS big on FOOTBALL and BEER? that the
perfect place to give em the HEADS UP about the bruce record.
certainly nobody in MTV(if it still exists) knows who BRUCE even is.
they MARKETEERS the BRUCE BOARD!!! wammmo for em!!
myself, im more locked into the GOOD BRUCE music, specially after the
exc MAGIC RELEASE. now, you aint gonna get any release by BRUCE or
anyobody else, that is 'produced, mixed , master etc and etc' to sound
like
DARNKESS. nowadays records are made for the IPODS etc and have to be
mixed to play on em. liste to DARKNESS on the ipod sound like they are
playin underwater, you have to mix
for the NOW age, the DIGITAL age. thats just the way it is
nobody cain do anythin about it. MAGIC is MUCH better all the way
around that DARKNESS anyways got more musicology in it. true aint no
epic with DARK EDGED STREETS of fire but thats a good thing MORE POWER
TO MAGIC> the good BRUCE MUSIC will now, as i predicted here myself
long before anyone was aware, no more 25 years betwixt release, its
gonna be the MISSISSIPPI RIVER OF GOOD BRUCE music rollin down on the
people!!
You're not the first person I've heard say that Magic is mixed for the
digital age. But does that mean that all the current stuff that sounds good
on a CD player will sound crappy in an iPod?
|
it dont sound THAT GOOD on the IPOD but CDS are digital too, they are
bein mixed for the CD and the IPODS and the COMPUTER it is made to be
BRIGHT and LOUD thats what the kids nowadays respond. thats how they
are EQ'ed
everything is brought up to the top. MAGIC sounds LOW COMPARED to
them
HOPPER music you got nowadays.thats the times we are in;
if BRUCE was on some small label HIGHTONE RECORDS or some such then
it may have made to be sound like DARKNESS since nobody would have
expected to sell more that a couple hundred units. |

I read this post early this morning, but had to leave, and got busy. But I
thought, "Wow, Fred Neil. I haven't listened to him in a long time; that
sure sounds good.". A few hours later, I'm driving my dad's old '75 GMC van
(a hoopdy if there ever was one) with the AM radio on (no FM), and what
comes on? Fred Neil! Amazing. Great radio station, KPIG, from Monterey.
Can't get it on my fancy car or home stereo, only in the hoopdy!
|
that song got the BEST WHISTLIN of all times. the FRED REWRITE of the
LIBBY COTTON number. |

board. GREAT 3 MIN songs with bright HOOKS that taught BRUCE more
than the school could!!! thats the VIBE we are goin after on this
BRUCE RELEASE!!! but unfortuneatly (sp) some BRUCE BOARDS just seem
to want the NEW JERESY GODZILLA is BORN TO RUN in the STREETS OF FIRE
pt 2.!!!!"
Very true. It'll never happen. Bruce done grown up.- Hide quoted text -

"the BRUCE boards want to MARKET the record differently. mabye a big ad
in ROLLING STONE? who cares about marketin
or 'units' etc we talkin musiclogoy and good BRUCE music.
rock and roll with more EMPHASIS on the roll sections than the rock
ones!! the song got a GREAT VIBE and you cain dance to it BUT
apparentely it lacks gravitas(4-5 banjos). i have nothin but HIGH
HOPES for the BRUCE RECORD!! you heard it hear first once again."
Bruce has been into serious marketing, and big big $, for years now; some
people are just now realizing it. Pretty hilarious, that.
It doesn't bother me either, I also just care about the quality of the
music. And I might go to a show sometime again if I ever hear he's gotten
rid of his shameful gutter-quality sound system for concerts.- Hide quoted

"BRUCE has has a HORRIBLE SOUND SYSTEM at his concerts for many many
years. i have no idea why, its a rough mix they got at the shows, but
obvioulsy BRUCE things its primo."
Before 1999, every electric Bruce show I'd seen was a Bill Graham
production. Perfect sound every time. In fact, I never saw a Graham show
with crap sound, and I went to probably 150 of em.
Bruce can't think it's primo, if he has any hearing left. No excuse for it.
He simply doesn't care anymore. He figures the performance is enough. |

rip the great MIRIAM MAKEBA!

"if folk are PININ for some of the WEED TRIMMER type of SEEGER music
they best FORGET ABOUT IT!! that material sank without a trace! the
NEW BRUCE music has an EMPHASIS(sp) on the MUSICIAL COLOR PALATTE!!
bright sounds for some songs and more DARK BLUEISH COLOR for others.
i rather have the WHISTLIN than the HARP any day."
I'm a little surprised with the generally negative reaction next door.
But
I
think they were the same way initially with the first snippets (and
the
title) of the last album. I'm sure it'll be fine.
Whistling is an interesting touch.
And yeah, give me Bruce doing rock over anything else, anytime. The
Seeger
album's the only album of new Bruce material that I never bought.-

#1 SONG with WHISTLIN in it is IVE GOT A SECRET (DIDNT WE SHAKE
SUGAREE) by the one and only FREDDY NEIL.
