While googling this afternoon I coincidentally stumbled upon a copy of
the film Doubletakes, Peter Moore's 30-minute film documenting a
performance of Originale at the 2nd Annual New York Avant Garde
Festival i n February 1964. Hardcore Stockhausen fans can watch it
here:

Thanks for this! how great to see again something famous from the 1960s.
Reminds me of how much I enjoyed the Cage Waterwalk TV appearance on
Youtube.

Speaking of YouTube, there's a very interesting film on YouTube in
which the founder of the the New York Avant Garde Festival, Charlotte
Moorman (notorious in the 1960's as the "topless cellist"), talks
about the 1964 performance of Stockhausen's Originale. Those
interested in more, at times funny background information can watch it
here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wiEJdOlgcDE |

Must have been fun to be part of. Given the participants I might have
expected Yoko Ono to have been involved too. Perhaps she had left NYC
by that point.
Definitely of its time. |

Thanks for this - I needed it.
I guess there's no point in asking the not-absolutely-rhetorical
question, whatever has happened to us since then? |
