Just passing this on, as it's in the news:

Forensic pathologist links Beethoven's doctor, lead in composer's
death.

Interesting theory. Were they able to conclusively link Salieri to
Mozart's death yet?

The conclusions drawn over the past several years about lead levels in
Beethoven are fascinating, but somebody needs to address the
conclusions of the 1991 CDC report on lead poisoning in children,
which you can read here:

http://wonder.cdc.gov/wonder/prevguid/p0000029/p0000029.asp#head007001001000000

According to the CDC, hair lead measurements are not reliable
indicators of exposure to lead, so the elevated lead levels in
Beethoven’s hair may not necessarily indicate that he had toxic lead
levels in his organs.

Dear Aristotle,

Why not?
