Just saw the Black Crowes in St. Louis on 7/25. It was a free outdoor show.
That was a FUN concert!
Anyone else there?

I'm seeing them at the end of August at the MN State Fair with the Black
Keys. Should be a good double bill in an outdoor venue. The last few
shows have looked really good on paper so I'm getting excited for the
show, it looks like they are doing more than just SHAMC/Warpaint songs
finally. |

I've been seeing them since the SHAMC tour and have heard those songs
enough live, I want to hear some different stuff. They are great songs
but they have a lot of other really good songs that could be played
instead of the 1,000 airing of Thorn In My Pride. |

Probably during the SYMM tour they did all those song, most likely not
in order though. |

Maybe. I could take 30 minutes and cruise through Crowesbase. Maybe some other
time. The reason I'm skeptical is that a lot of the dates they did then were
opening for someone else. They played a lot of 45 minute shows. |

I'm with you. Actually, Thorn In My Pride would still be great if they just
played it the way it is on the album, left out the drum solo and didn't turn it
into an epic. I wish they'd start it acoustic, as it should be. |

Have they ever played NSNS as well as on Freak n Roll? I only
recently picked that up as I usually tend to stick to boots. |

Other than on Freak N' Roll? Yeah, tons of times. See www.crowesbase.com
That one has never come across with the intensity it did on the Southern Harmony
tour. They still performed it well after that, but it never seems to have the
same bite as it did. Check out any of the four Beacon Theater in NYC shows from
August of 1992. The song absolutely smoked! |

I'll do that. I only have a handful of BC boots and they seemed kinda
not 'in the moo' on a few of them. I saw em on the Amorica tour and
it was a bit lackluster. But that seems to be the exception, not the
rule.

Yeah, the Amorica tour had a lot of great shows. Maybe you got them on a
particularly stoned night. But that's what happens when you have a band that
doesn't stick to a scripted show. You get higher highs and lower lows. Too bad
you caught them on a bad night. |

I got busted at the door myself when the door-guy wanted to see inside
my cigarette pack. Our eyes met for a moment and he let me in *with*
my booty. That particular show was nearly ruined for me by the 1 and
a half hour Dirty Dozen band opening act. We thought it would never
end. The horns! Dear God the horns!
